A seamless, cinematic blend of movement, projection, film, subdued light, drone and deafening lamentation. Polyphonic compositions and deep delving into the pleasantly unpleasant.
In “My Own Fukase”,a fate-saturated collage,we encounter a seamless, cinematic mix of movement, projections, film, subduedlight, drone and deafeninglamentation.Humans are fascinated by the grotesque; wemassagebruises even though it hurts. Humans are disgusted by the smell of decay and at the same time attracted to it –Why is that?
In this interdisciplinary work, choreographer Maria Naidu collaborates with composer Kent Olofsson, visual designer Tomas Romlöv and lighting designer Ulrich Ruchlinski/imULto.
The artistic process is inspired by the complex artistry of the Japanese photographer Masahisa Fukase (1934-2012). In his work, Fukase treated love, loss, loneliness, despair, self-destruction and mortality at different levels of depth and abstraction, in a raw, compulsive, sometimes comicaland emotional way. “My Own Fukase” explores and draws on these themes through large-scale polyphonic choreography and sound composition, created forone sole live body/voice.

Frozen im amber is a poetic journey through a world where language is running around on a squirrel wheel. Under a cipher of resin and metal, a collection of associative tableaux of dystopian honesty emerges through dance, music and voice.
Dancer and performing artist Miguel Cortés, together with Emelie Johansson, Kent Olofsson and Charlotta Andersson, creates a stage universe coloured by sometimes raw ProgMetal-influenced sound worlds with hints of lyrical guitar riffs. At times seductive, at times restrictive, fragmented movement patterns are swept into a monochrome amber light, forming a personal reflection on being in a fast-paced contemporary world.
With Frozen in Amber, Miguel Cortés continues his close collaboration with composer Kent Olofsson. Together they create a mix of movement, music and voice that becomes a personal and poetic road trip. They were most recently seen together in the work Vägsjälar, which was shown at Bastionen in Malmö and Atalante in Gothenburg in 2018.

How do we move on? Vägsjälar (Road Souls) brings together poetic thoughts on transience and change.
In the borderland where dusk and dawn merge, lived experiences alternate with future dreams in shades of blue. At times absurd, tender and humorous.
The performance is a dance-theatre hybrid consisting of several independent images where different expressions together build a work that can be compared to an existentialist road movie to music and electro-acoustic soundscapes by composer Kent Olofsson.
Maria Naidu & Miguel Cortés are both active dance and theatre artists for over 30 years. In spring 2016 they started the multi-year project "Did you get the t-shirt?" where they explore the question in relation to their lives. Vägsjälar is the first work in a series arising from the project.
